Ward Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) across Oyo State have declared their full and unwavering support for Governor ‘Seyi Makinde ahead of the 2027 general elections, pledging to align with any political direction the governor charts.

The endorsement was made known through a statement issued by the Forum of Oyo State PDP Ward Chairmen, and jointly signed by its Chairman, Chief Olawale Alawe; Secretary, Mr Akeem Adebayo; and Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Fatai Adelakun.

According to the Forum, Governor Makinde has earned their trust and admiration by redefining governance in Nigeria through impactful and people-oriented policies. They noted that his administration’s far-reaching achievements across various sectors have placed Oyo State on a progressive path, thereby justifying their collective vote of confidence in his leadership.

The Forum commended the governor’s strides in infrastructure, particularly the completion of over 540 kilometres of roads in six years, which they described as a major boost to the state’s economic development.

Some of the notable completed road projects highlighted include the 76km Iseyin-Fapote-Ogbomoso Road, 65km Moniya-Ijaiye-Iseyin Road, 34km Oyo-Iseyin Road, 12.5km Theophilus Akinyele Road, 7.6km Gate-Old Ife Road-Onipepeye-Airport Road, 21km Ajia-Airport Road with a spur to Amuloko, and the 5.7km Gedu-Asipa-Oroki Road.

They also acknowledged ongoing road projects such as the 110km Ibadan Circular Road, 45km Saki-Ogbooro-Igboho Road, 48km Ido-Eruwa Road, as well as various feeder roads and 87km of rural roads under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP).

In the agricultural sector, the Forum lauded the establishment of the Fasola Agribusiness Industrial Hub and the ongoing development of the Eruwa Agribusiness Hub. They also highlighted the planned Ijaiye Wholesale Market, which contributed to Oyo State becoming the first sub-national in Africa to gain admission into the World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUMM).

They further praised the governor’s efforts in employment creation, stating that nearly 30,000 residents have been employed across education, health, local government, and the civil service, while the informal sector has experienced growth due to the administration’s economic policies.

The Ward Chairmen expressed gratitude for Governor Makinde’s inclusive approach to party management, particularly his support for the PDP State Working Committee and Local Government Party Chairmen. They, however, appealed for similar support to be extended to Ward Chairmen, many of whom have laboured diligently for the success of the party over the years.

The Forum concluded by reaffirming their loyalty and readiness to follow Governor Makinde’s leadership into the 2027 elections, describing him as a transformational leader whose legacy of good governance deserves continued support.
