Drinking cold water can have some benefits, such as helping to cool down your body on a hot day or boosting your metabolism. According to Medical News Today, consuming too much cold water can also have negative effects on your body. If you notice any of the following five signs, it may be a good idea to reduce your intake of cold water:

1. Stomach discomfort.

Consuming cold water can cause the blood vessels in your stomach to constrict, which can lead to stomach discomfort or even cramping. If you find that drinking cold water makes your stomach feel upset, try switching to room temperature or warm water instead.

2. Fatigue.

Cold water can also cause your body to expend energy in order to warm it up to body temperature, which can leave you feeling tired and sluggish. If you find that you feel more fatigued after drinking cold water, try switching to a warmer temperature instead.

3. Headaches.

Cold water can cause the blood vessels in your head to constrict, which can lead to headaches or even migraines. If you find that drinking cold water gives you a headache, try switching to a warmer temperature instead.

4. Indigestion.

Cold water can also slow down the digestion process, which can lead to indigestion or bloating. If you find that drinking cold water makes you feel uncomfortable, try switching to a warmer temperature instead.

5. Sore throat.

Cold water can cause the blood vessels in your throat to constrict, which can lead to a sore throat or even a cold. If you find that drinking cold water gives you a sore throat, try switching to a warmer temperature instead.

If you notice any of the above signs, it may be a good idea to reduce your intake of cold water and opt for room temperature or warm water instead.
