In a bid to honor the memory of his late father, the CEO of Afia Construction & Building Engineering Consultancy Services Ltd., Engr. Abduljelyl Adekunle Karheem, MCIArb, MCIOB, МСАВЕ, has announced the launch of the ‘Alhaji Boladale Alade Adanla Annual Ramadan Lecture.’
The inaugural edition of the lecture is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, from 12 PM to 4 PM at Tutu Event Place, opposite Ventura Mall, Samonda, Sango, Ibadan. The event will feature Sheikh Yunus Ayilara Taliat, the Chief Imam of Ogbomoso land, as the Guest Lecturer.
Engr. Karheem, who also serves as the Turaki Adini of Oyo State and the Mogaji of the Adanla Family, emphasized that the annual lecture aims to foster community unity, promote accurate religious teachings, and enhance awareness of Islamic principles.

The announcement follows the recent burial of Alhaji Boladale Alade Adanla, who passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at the age of 97. He was laid to rest the next day, in accordance with Islamic rites, at his residence on 28 Taiwo Street, Off Poly Road, Sango, Ibadan. The Salat al-Jinazah prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheikh Abdul-Ganiyy AbuBakr Agbotomokekere.
During a brief sermon after the burial, Sheikh Agbotomokekere described the late Adanla as a man blessed by Allah, especially as he passed away during the holy month of Ramadan. He extolled the deceased’s humility and devotion to God, reminding attendees of the inevitability of death regardless of age, status, or background. He prayed for Allah’s mercy on the departed soul and blessings upon his family.

The burial ceremony saw the presence of esteemed Islamic scholars, corporate leaders, politicians, and celebrities who came to support Engr. Karheem and his family. Notable attendees included Alhaji Trimisiyu Hussain, Alhaji Y.K. Abass (Babalola of Oyo State), Otunba Seye Famojuro (a close associate of Governor Seyi Makinde), Sheikh Sani Auwal, Alhaji Alao Lateef, Mogaji Abass Oloko, Alhaji Mutiu Oladeji (Onimalu), Alhaja Modinat Orieru, and Engr. Akeem Olatunji (Chairman, Oluyole Local Government), among others.
In addition to announcing the annual lecture, Engr. Karheem also extended his gratitude to those who could not attend the burial but reached out to offer their condolences. Among them were Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde; Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja; former First Lady of Oyo State, Alhaja Mutiat Olayinka Ladoja; Deputy Governor Barrister Bayo Lawal; Agba Oye of Ibadanland and Chairman of Shoreline Ltd, Oloye Kola Karim; and former Minister of Communications, Barrister Bayo Shitu.

Others who sent their condolences include Barrister Hamed Bayo Raji SAN (Turaki of Oke Ogun), Hon. Williams Akinfunmilayo (Commissioner for Lands and Urban Planning), Senator Soji Akanbi and his wife, Hon. Dhikrulahi Stanley Olajide (lawmaker representing Ibadan Southwest and Northwest), Alhaji Tunde Ologburo, and the Onpetu of Ijeruland, Oba Sunday Oladapo Oyediran. Additionally, the Chief Imam of Offa, the Chief Imam of Ogbomoso, the Chairman of Oyo State Housing Corporation, Hon. Demola Omotosho, Hon. Fadeyi, and the Deputy Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly also conveyed their sympathies.
With this annual lecture, Engr. Karheem seeks to uphold his father’s legacy and contribute to the enlightenment and unity of the Muslim community in Oyo State and beyond.
