Following a tragic incident at a funfair in Ibadan that left several attendees injured, Agidigbo FM has refuted claims that it organized the event.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the management of the radio station clarified its position and urged the public to verify facts before spreading misinformation.

“We deeply sympathize with the victims and their families during this difficult time. However, we must categorically state that Agidigbo FM was not the organizer of the event. Linking us to it is both false and damaging,” the statement read.

The incident, which occurred earlier in the day, involved a mishap at the funfair venue, resulting in injuries. Initial reports from eyewitnesses erroneously associated the event with Agidigbo FM, prompting the station to issue the clarification.

The station also highlighted the dangers of misinformation, particularly during sensitive times. “We urge the public to rely on verified sources for information. Misinformation can worsen an already tragic situation,” the statement warned.

Additionally, Agidigbo FM called for a thorough investigation into the incident, emphasizing the need for accountability. “We encourage a swift and transparent investigation to uncover the lapses that led to this unfortunate incident. Lessons must be learned to prevent a recurrence,” it added.

The state government have since launched an investigation, with preliminary findings suggesting lapses in safety measures at the funfair.
