The Alakufo – designate, Alhaji (Chief) Lamidi Taoreed Ayankojo Ololade Adefisoye, has told Alhaji Olajide Abideen Abimbola (a.k.a Eji Ogbe) that the Alakufo throne cannot be hijacked like motor-parks.
Chief Ololade Adefisoye urged Eji-Ogbe to be ready to follow due process of appointing a Part Two Oba in Oyo State, if he wishes to become one.
Alhaji Abideen Abimbola was installed as Alakufo by the late Olubadan, Oba Lekan Balogun, on December 18, 2023, two months after the Oyo State Government had appointed Chief Ololade Adefisoye as Alakufo -designate.
They both have been laying claims to the throne of Alakufo of Akufo in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Alhaji Abideen Abimbola, a chieftain of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the state, insisted that he is the Alakufo, having been installed by the late Olubadan.
On the other hand, Chief Ayankojo Ololade Adefisoye claimed that the Alakufo throne was not vacant as at the time Eji-Ogbe was installed, as the State Government had already appointed him (Adefisoye) for the throne.
According to him, he emerged as
the Alakufo – designate in October, 2023 through a letter from the Oyo State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matter titled : “RE: Filling of Vacant Stool of Baale Akufo”.
Chief Adefisoye added that the letter with reference no.: CB.141/152/40/92A, reads: “I wish to refer to the above subject and inform you with pleasure that His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has graciously approved your appointment as the new Baale of Akufo, in Ido Local Government Area with effect from 20th October, 2023”.
Speaking on Alhaji Abideen Abimbola’s claim of being the Alakufo, Chief Adefisoye lamented that the Oyo NURTW chieftain is too desperate to ascend the throne without following due process.
According to the Alakufo -designate, the throne of Alakufo suddenly became the priority of Eji-Ogbe after his four failed attempts to become the Chairman of NURTW in Oyo State.
Chief Adefisoye said: “After failed attempts to become the Oyo State NURTW boss for four good times, Eji-Ogbe changed his mind to become a king, but he is not ready to follow due process. Thrones or kingship are not hijack the way guns and cutlasses are used to snatch motor packs and garages.
“During the late Ajimobi’s administration, instead of
Alhaji Tokyo to nominate Eji-Ogbe, he nominated late Fele.
“When Fele died, Eji-Ogbe was already warming up to take over the leadership of NURTW in the state, but he was rejected.
“Recently, Tommy was chosen by Governor Seyi Makinde ‘s administration to replace auxiliary instead of Eji-Ogbe.
“He thereafter ran to Abuja to get a position at the national level, but he was turned down.
“After the failed attempts to become NURTW chairman in the state, his attention was shifted to the Alakufo throne, a community where he has not investment”.
