Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has lauded the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta States, Alhaji Dawud Makanjuola Akinola (popularly known as De-Damak), describing him as a religious leader with a marked difference in patriotism and unwavering commitment to the development of society.
The governor gave the commendation on Sunday in a message celebrating the renowned Islamic leader on his birthday.
In his tribute, Governor Makinde extolled Alhaji Akinola’s philanthropy, selflessness, and dedication to initiatives that enhance the growth and progress of Oyo State and Nigeria at large.
He stated:
> “Today, I join others to felicitate the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta states, Alhaji Dawud Makanjuola Akinola, on the occasion of his birthday.
“In Alhaji Akinola, Oyo State and Nigeria have been blessed to have a religious leader with a marked difference in patriotism and commitment to nation building.
“His interest in everything that has to do with the progress, peace and the development of Oyo State has always been top-notch.”
Governor Makinde also offered prayers for the celebrant, asking God to grant him long life, sound health, and continued wisdom to guide the Muslim Ummah and contribute meaningfully to societal development.
“While celebrating your birthday and giving thanks to the Almighty for the achievements you have recorded over the years and the impact you have made on humanity, I pray to God to grant you more decades, wisdom, good health and enable you to make more impact on humanity,” the governor added.
“Happy birthday, sir,” he concluded.
Alhaji Akinola, a prominent figure in the Islamic community and an influential voice in socio-religious matters, is widely known for his charitable works and efforts toward interfaith harmony and community development across the South-West region and beyond.
