Governor Seyi Makinde has formally approved Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade as the new Alaafin of Oyo. The announcement followed recommendations by the Oyomesi, after extensive consultations and traditional divinations.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, the decision was described as a resolution to the socio-legal disputes that arose after the passing of Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III on April 22, 2022.

The Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ademola Ojo, also confirmed the development, urging the people of Oyo State to celebrate this historic moment and support the new monarch.
