Veteran Nollywood actor Olu Jacobs is alive and doing well, his wife Joke Silva has confirmed, putting to rest the latest round of social media rumors about his death.
This is the second time in recent years that unfounded rumors about the death of the acclaimed actor have surfaced on social media. Speaking to TheNEWS and PMNEWS, Joke Silva dispelled the latest reports, stating that “her husband is alive and doing just fine.”
Popularly known as “Uncle Olu” among his colleagues and fans, Olu Jacobs is one of the most respected and accomplished actors in the Nigerian film industry, with a career spanning over four decades.
Trained at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, Jacobs has distinguished himself as a versatile and accomplished actor, working with various repertoire theaters in Britain and appearing in international films such as “The Dogs of War,” “Pirates,” and “Baby: Secret of the Lost Legend.”
In Nigeria, Jacobs has starred in over 120 Nollywood films, cementing his status as a veteran and a “godfather” who has paved the way for many emerging actors and actresses in the industry. His accolades include the 2007 African Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2016.
Olu Jacobs is married to fellow veteran actress Joke Silva, and together they founded and operate the Lufodo Group, a media corporation involved in film production, distribution, and the Lufodo Academy of Performing Arts.
