Yesterday, the Oyo State Police Command held a parade where they presented 21 individuals believed to be Yoruba Nation agitators. These suspects were apprehended for their involvement in the violent breach of the Oyo State Government Secretariat last Saturday.
The group of alleged agitators was arrested by a joint operation involving security operatives stationed at the government Secretariat. The authorities caught them red-handed as they attempted to take control of the State House of Assembly while proudly displaying Yoruba Nation flags.
During a press conference, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Adebola Hamzat, confirmed the arrest of these 21 individuals suspected of agitating for Yoruba Nation. CP Hamzat issued a stern warning to any other individuals with similar criminal intentions to immediately leave the state.
The Commissioner stressed that the offense committed by the suspects is considered treasonable felony, a serious crime against the state. He also noted that investigations are still ongoing. CP Hamzat made it clear that no one was killed during the confrontation between the security operatives and the alleged agitators. However, he mentioned that one officer from the Amotekun corps was injured during the exchange of gunfire.
