Special Adviser (Media) to the Vice-Chancellor
Festive joy filled the air at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) this week as staff members celebrated the administration’s generous Christmas welfare initiative. Under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina, staff across all categories received cash bonuses and food items, reinforcing the university’s commitment to their well-being.
As part of the package, each staff member was credited with a cash bonus and received a broiler chicken raised on the university’s farm. The farm’s operations, overseen by Dr. Opeyemi Osundare, ensured a seamless distribution process.
Staff members expressed their gratitude through FUOYE’s social media platforms, commending the Vice-Chancellor and the management team for their thoughtfulness.
Professor Atilade Adeeyo, Dean of the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, praised the initiative: “FUOYE stands out as the only public university in Southwest Nigeria offering Christmas gifts to staff. This reflects our administration’s commitment to exceptional staff welfare and management excellence.”
Dr. Deborah Alabi also shared her appreciation: “On behalf of all FUOYE staff, I thank our esteemed Vice-Chancellor for this thoughtful gesture. The Christmas chicken and cash bonus will greatly enhance our celebrations. We deeply appreciate your leadership. More wins ahead, sir.”
Dr. Joseph Odumosu echoed similar sentiments, stating, “We are immensely grateful to the Vice-Chancellor for his kindness and exemplary leadership. May success continue to follow you.”
Dr. Osundare, speaking to the university’s media team, detailed the logistics of the distribution, which began on Monday, December 2, and will continue through Friday, December 6, 2024.
“By Wednesday, December 4, over 2,000 broilers had been distributed to staff. This initiative is part of the Vice-Chancellor’s Christmas welfare package, planned since September 2024, when thousands of broilers were raised specifically for this purpose,” he explained.
Dr. Osundare also highlighted the farm’s broader contributions, including affordable eggs, cassava granules (garri), pork, beef, chicken, and palm oil, which benefit both staff and students year-round. Following the broiler distribution, layers chickens will be offered at reduced prices to staff and the host communities.
This year’s Christmas welfare package benefits FUOYE’s 2,800 staff members, further solidifying the university’s reputation for prioritizing staff care and engagement.
The administration’s efforts have set a high standard for leadership, blending compassion with excellence and leaving an indelible mark on the university community.
