The President of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Nigeria and Overseas, Pastor Samuel Oladele, has urged Christians to wholeheartedly seek Jesus as their ultimate superstar, just as the wise men in the Bible did.
Pastor Oladele made this call during the church’s 2024 Christmas Carol of Nine Lessons, held on Friday. Speaking on the theme, “Pilgrimage of the Wise”, and drawing from Matthew 2:1, he emphasized the importance of recognizing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior during the Christmas season.
Reflecting on historical allegiances in Nigerian politics, Pastor Oladele posed a significant question: “Are you for Christ or not?” He compared this life-defining choice to the wise men’s journey in search of the Savior.
“The journey of the wise men was dangerous but purposeful. They were determined to find and honor Jesus Christ, their Savior and superstar,” he said.
Pastor Oladele highlighted the importance of surrounding oneself with the right company, stating, “The company we keep determines our destiny and direction in life. We must join the company of the wise to progress in our Christian journey.”
He likened Christianity to a progressive journey, urging believers to remain steadfast: “The wise men visited over 40 places before reaching Jesus. Similarly, Christianity requires continuous effort. If you are not moving forward, you are sliding backward.”
Addressing challenges faced by Christians, he cautioned against distractions and enemies like Satan that can hinder spiritual growth. He reminded believers that while the journey might be painful, Jesus Himself undertook a similar path for humanity’s sake.
Pastor Oladele concluded by emphasizing the need for unwavering focus on Jesus: “The wise men focused on their superstar, Jesus, among countless stars in the sky. Likewise, Jesus is the only superstar Christians should celebrate and emulate this Christmas and always.”
