The President of the Christ Apostolic Church, Nigeria and Overseas, Pastor Samuel Oladele, has emphasized the need for Nigerians to be righteous as the only way to make the country prosper.
Oladele made this statement on Friday evening while delivering his sermon at this year’s Christmas Carol at the church’s headquarters in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
Quoting 1 Chronicles 29 verse 20 in his sermon titled ‘Crowning King Solomon the Second Time’, the cleric used the story of King Solomon as an analogy, stating that “Solomon was hurriedly crowned the first time due to the crisis in Israel, but he was permanently crowned the second time after the crisis.
According to Oladele, today we commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ over 2000 years ago. “Many accepted Jesus hurriedly and temporarily after finding themselves in crises but refused to accept him permanently to save their souls.”
“The Bible says righteousness exalts a nation; we really do pray as we are the most praying country after Korea, but prayers without righteousness mean nothing. Therefore, we have to go back to the virtue of righteousness, and that is the only hope to make Nigeria prosper.
“Let’s repent from our sins and do away with corruptions, killings, banditry, and other evils. It is disheartening that we have people in higher places backing these evil acts. And it is only after we have repented and become righteous that God in heaven will look upon us with mercy,” Pastor Oladele preached.
Corroborating him, the church’s Director of Publicity, Pastor Ademisoye Alawode, urged Christians who accepted Christ in times of crisis to surrender to Him completely. He said that once He has saved their bodies, it is necessary for them to allow Him to save their souls.
