On November 7, 2019, Christel Moseadie's naked body was found on the bathroom floor of her home on Petersen Street in Hout Bay.
The woman, who was 36 years old at the time, is said to have been beaten and raped by her cousin Andrew, who was 19 at the time.
The accused is then said to have killed his relative who was taking care of him by strangling her and taking her phone and shoes.
The state plans to show that Andrew went to the nearby cemetery to dig a hole.
Andrew Moseadie is charged with crimes in court.
But his plan fell through when Christel's family members came to look for her and found her dead body.
On Thursday, investigating officer Sergeant Tino Hendricks testified about how he found Christel's body with a gown over it.
"When I looked at her, I could already see that her tongue was swollen." It had been more than 24 hours since she died. I also saw that she wasn't wearing anything and had a pair of green pants around her neck.
"There was blood on her nose and forehead, and I saw a condom next to her," he said.
The next thing Hendricks said shocked the court and made Shireen Marthinus, Christel's sister, cry.
"I moved out of the way so that forensics could do their job." I saw the condom fall out from between her legs when they lifted her up.
The police officer said that he went outside and saw Andrew sitting on a red pickup truck.
He said that people beat the accused before he could step in and take Andrew to the police station.
The case will now be heard on March 13.
