Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has made a firm declaration regarding the upcoming governorship election, emphasizing that it is a "do-or-die" affair as voters prepare to head to the polls on September 21.
Obaseki's comments came during the final rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oredo Local Government Area, where he rallied support for the party's gubernatorial candidate, Asue Ighodalo. Addressing a large crowd, he urged voters to consider the consequences of their choices, stating, "This election is a do-or-die situation for us. Do you want insecurity? Do you want uneducated people leading us? Next Saturday, when you go to vote, make sure you choose PDP."
The governor's remarks follow the PDP's refusal to sign a Peace Accord just two days prior, citing unmet demands amid a heated political climate. His statements stand in stark contrast to former Edo governor and current APC senator, Adams Oshiomhole, who has claimed that the PDP has no chance of winning, asserting that "no miracle" could save the party from defeat.
As the election date approaches, tensions continue to rise in Edo State, with both parties intensifying their campaigns and rhetoric.
