A man has been apprehended for allegedly hitting his wife to death over her refusal to sleep with him.
The niece of the dead woman explained the terrible incident to newsmen at the hospital while calling for justice for her mother' s twin sister. According to the her, the suspect was in the habit of always beating his wife.
On January 27, the woman, Mrs Ugieki Asemota came back home from a wedding to find her husband drunk, so she had a bath and locked herself in a room to avoid getting beaten which is allegedly her husband' s habit anytime he is drunk.
However, late that same night, the husband was said to have hit on her door, asking for sex but she told him to go to his room and leave her alone.
When he wouldn' t leave and she could sense him becoming so violent, afraid of what would happen if he eventually enters the room, the wife immediately jumped out of her room passing through a window.
However, the husband allegedly went after her and attacked her, hitting her with wood and a stick until she slumped and died.
She was vomiting blood seriously and was immediately rushed to the hospital by concerned neighbors who heard her crying and begging for help. She was confirmed dead by the medical doctors who were on duty as at that time.
The case was immediately reported to the police and the man was arrested immediately.
He was paraded at the Edo State Police headquarters, where the Police Public Relations Officer who confirmed the incident asked that he should be remanded at the police home suicide department for more interrogations before he will be charged to court.
The man has confessed and accepted the crime, saying that his wife cried and begged for mercy but he was still beating and hitting her on the head till she died.
