Oluwatimileyin Ajayi, an Abuja-based gospel singer and fitness enthusiast, has been arrested after being caught with the severed head of his girlfriend.
Ajayi, known for his work as a gospel singer, songwriter, and performing artist, was apprehended on Sunday near a church in the Orozo area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Eyewitnesses claim he was seen carrying a black nylon bag that attracted flies, prompting suspicions.
Upon being accosted and searched, it was discovered that the bag contained a freshly severed human head, reportedly belonging to his girlfriend. Ajayi, who hails from Kabba in Kogi State, was detained by local residents before being handed over to authorities.
A video circulating on social media shows the moment he was caught, with a witness narrating the chilling discovery. "I got the shock of my life as we apprehended a man carrying his girlfriend's head in a nylon bag near our church," a woman identified as Arike shared online.
In the same video, Ajayi confessed to the crime, claiming he had dated the woman for a year but did not know her origin. He alleged that an argument between them escalated when she attempted to stab him with a knife, leading him to kill and behead her in what he described as self-defense.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage and shock, with many questioning the singer's motives and mental state. Investigations are ongoing as law enforcement seeks to uncover the full details of the crime.
