The Osun state Governor, Ademola Adeleke has been sacked by the Osun state Election Petition Tribunal after the judge who presided over the court case revealed that there were cases of over voting during the Osun Governorship election on the 16th of July, 2022.

Justice Tetsea Kume, right before announcing the sacking of Governor Ademola Adeleke mentioned that the Independent National Electoral Commission did not comply substantially with the Constitution and the provisions of the Electoral Act.

In the report on Punch News, after the court subtracted over-voting from the total votes gathered by PDP's governor Ademola Adeleke that saw him winning the election, he was left with 290,266 votes as against the initial 403,371 votes declared by INEC. Oyetola, who polled 375,027 votes in the election, now has 314,921 votes.

The Judge, according to Punch News, has directed INEC to withdraw Governor Adeleke’s certificate of return and to issue a new one to Oyetola who won a majority of the lawful votes.

The news of the development has stirred mixed reactions from both parties involved and their supporters.
