Prince Segun Akanni—renowned cultural ambassador, publisher, entrepreneur, and advocate for African arts and heritage—is the Convener of the Pan-Afrikan Drum Festival in Canada. He was honoured for his remarkable efforts in promoting African culture and fostering diaspora engagement through the arts. His leadership in spearheading multicultural initiatives and producing impactful artistic programs has significantly enriched Brampton’s cultural landscape while deepening global appreciation for African heritage.

Prince Akanni and fellow honorees were formally celebrated at a grand ceremony held on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at the Rose Theatre in Brampton. The award was presented to him by Mayor Patrick Brown, alongside members of Brampton’s legislative council.
