The founder of MedContour Services Ltd., Dr. Anuoluwapo Adepoju, has been convicted by the Federal High Court in Lagos for her involvement in a failed plastic surgery that led to the death of Nneka Onwuzuligbo in 2020, as reported by FIJ.

Babatunde Irukera, the former Director-General of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, took to Twitter to announce the conviction and expressed his satisfaction in prosecuting the case. In a series of tweets under the handle #TundeIrukera, Irukera stated, "Today marks a proud moment for me as I personally handled the prosecution against Anu Adepoju and her medical practice. Despite my departure, the case has concluded with a conviction, reinforcing the accountability framework for all members of society, whether professionals or not. This is the essence of a functioning and evolving society.

"Dr. Anu Adepoju and her medical practice have been found guilty on all 5 counts filed by FCCPC. Though the wheels of justice may turn slowly, we must ensure due process. What we require is boldness and determination to prosecute competently and diligently. A positive development for consumers of professional services."
