In a statement released on Tuesday, Dangote Refinery has refuted a report published in PUNCH newspapers that its petrol price has been set at N600 per liter.

Anthony Chiejina, the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote, clarified that the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) is not a business partner of the company. He stated that Dangote Refinery has never discussed the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) with IPMAN, and the association has no authority to speak on behalf of the company.

"We would like to clarify that Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) is not our business partner yet. We have never discussed price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) with them, and they have no mandate or authority to speak for us, either for good or with hidden transcript," Chiejina said.

The Dangote Group urged the public to refrain from such speculative announcements and stated that the company has its official channels through which it communicates with its stakeholders.

The refutation comes amid growing concerns over the rising cost of fuel in Nigeria. The government has been under pressure to address the issue, but the Dangote Refinery's clarification suggests that the reported price of N600 per liter is not an official figure.
