Super Eagles striker Kayode Olarenwaju has found himself embroiled in a bitter divorce battle with his estranged wife, Ezinne. The European-based footballer has now approached a Federal Capital Territory High Court, urging the court to dissolve his marriage on the grounds that it has broken down irretrievably.
Olarenwaju is not only seeking custody of their children but has also demanded that UK-based pastor Tobi Adegboyega pay him a staggering sum of ₦1 billion in damages. The footballer claims the pastor had an "adulterous affair" with his wife, causing him emotional trauma, financial loss, and a loss of goodwill.
The marital battle between Olarenwaju and Ezinne has been ongoing, with allegations of infidelity and other issues at the center of the dispute. In a cross-petition filed by the Super Eagles striker, he has accused his estranged wife of repeatedly committing adultery with the UK-based pastor and other men since their marriage in 2013.
Olarenwaju has also claimed that Ezinne kidnapped their children, who were later rescued by the Department of State Services (DSS) personnel. The footballer further accused his wife of undermining their joint business ventures, alleging that she has been collecting rent proceeds from properties he purchased and using the funds to finance her "amorous relationship" with the co-respondent.
In his petition, Olarenwaju argued that Ezinne is not concerned with the educational and mental well-being of their children, citing her "romantic and sex-related discussions" with the co-respondent and other men in the presence of the children.
The matter is set to be heard in court on September 24, 2024, where the judge will determine the fate of this high-profile divorce case and the fate of the hefty ₦1 billion demand against the UK-based pastor.
