The Federal Government has wielded its full weight in dissolving board of the Advertising Standard Panel, ASP for allowing Nigerians to place adverts to the effect that “All Eyes Are On the Judiciary” on billboards in Abuja.

Recall that government officials on Monday enthusiastically dismantled all the billboards bearing “All Eyes on the Judiciary”, paid for and mounted in strategic places in Abuja to inform the judges presiding over petitions by Alhaji Abubakar Atiku and Peter Obi against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that Nigerians are not docile but watching and waiting for nothing but justice to be done and seen to have been done.

Twenty-four hours after pulling down the billboards, the Federal Government wielded the hammer, dissolving the board of the ASP.

According to the Federal Government, the advertisement is nothing but a blackmail of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal(PEPT).

Director General of the Advertising Regulations Council of Nigeria, (ARCON), Dr. Olalekan Fadolepo announced the dissolution in a statement.

According to him, the council has suspended its Director and Deputy Director in charge of regulations to allow investigations into the issue.

He noted that though some of the adverts were not approved, the panel, he said erred in approving one of the concepts and that the approved concept failed vetting guidelines.
