Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde announced the passing of the revered 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Dr. Mohood Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II.
Governor Makinde delivered the unfortunate news on Thursday evening at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.
In a statement filled with emotions, he highlighted Oba Balogun's remarkable contributions to Ibadanland during his relatively short reign of just over two years.
Governor Makinde compared the late monarch to a towering Iroko tree and extended his condolences to the Olubadan-in-Council, the Oyo State Traditional Council, and the people of Ibadanland and Oyo State.
Makinde expressed his submission to the will of God and announced the passing of Oba Balogun, acknowledging his significant impact on Ibadanland's history and accomplishments.
The Governor offered his prayers for the peaceful repose of the late monarch's soul, recognizing his enduring legacy as a symbol of royal excellence and achievements.
