In a gesture to honor the memory of a departed lawmaker, the Governor of Oyo State, 'Seyi Makinde, has announced that the ongoing government estate in Trans Amusement Park, Samonda, will be named after the late Musliliu Olaide Akinremi, popularly known as Jagaban.

Governor Makinde made the announcement during the 8th day fidau prayer held for the late Jagaban at the Theophilus Ogunlesi Hall, University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan. The governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, expressed his condolences to the bereaved family and the people of Oyo State.

Barrister Lawal described Jagaban's sudden death as a "shocking and great loss to the state," noting that the Oyo Government had ordered flags to be flown at half-mast throughout the state in honor of the late Federal House of Representatives member for Ibadan North Federal Constituency.

"On behalf of his Excellency, Seyi Makinde, I send my deep condolences to the Akinremi family and members of the House of Representatives for this irreparable loss," Lawal said. "I urge all individuals, including the House members, to fill the vacuum Jagaban has left behind."

Lawal emphasized the importance of good deeds, stating that everyone should strive to be remembered for their positive impact, as mentioned in the Quran. He also highlighted the need for unity in Oyo State, regardless of party affiliation, for the development of the state.

During the fidau prayer, Dr. Akeola from the University of Ibadan praised Jagaban's good life and contributions to Oyo State. The late lawmaker's son, Prince Olaide Akinremi Senior, expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support and promised to carry on his father's legacy.

The event was attended by various dignitaries, including former Oyo Deputy Governor Barr. Iyiola Oladokun, former Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abass, and current and former members of the House of Representatives, as well as members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
