As part of ongoing efforts to ensure a successful 2025 edition of the Pan-African Drum Festival, a high-level delegation comprising Prince Segun Akanni, Convener of the Pan-Afrikan Drum Festival in Canada; Prince Julius Ojo, Founder of the Julicare Foundation; and Mr. David Oyedele paid a strategic visit to the Nigerian High Commission in Ottawa, Canada.

The team was warmly received by Minister Counsellor and Head of Chancery, Ms. Rose Yakowa, who guided them to the Head of Mission. The Ambassador, His Excellency Abba Zanna-Kawu, Charge d’Affaires a.i., alongside Mrs. Joy Adeniran, Minister (Political and Consular), hosted the delegation for a meaningful and productive meeting that lasted approximately an hour.

The purpose of the visit was to formally brief the High Commission on the upcoming 2025 Pan-Afrikan Drum Festival—scheduled for July 25th and 26th—and to seek the Commission’s support in promoting the cultural event, particularly among Nigerians in the diaspora.

Ambassador Abba, a seasoned diplomat with extensive experience in Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed strong support for the festival, praising the vision and dedication of its organizers. He described the festival as a significant cultural initiative that not only celebrates African heritage but also uplifts the image of Nigerians living abroad, especially those in Canada.

“He commended our efforts and shared several insightful ideas and suggestions on how to make the 2025 edition even more colorful and impactful,” said Prince Segun Akanni. “We are encouraged by the warmth, hospitality, and fatherly advice we received from the Ambassador and other officials present.”

The Ambassador assured the delegation of the High Commission’s full support and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration in the lead-up to the event.

With this diplomatic endorsement, preparations for the 2025 Pan-African Drum Festival are now in full swing, promising an even more vibrant and engaging celebration of African rhythm, culture, and community.

This year’s edition is set to feature a wide range of diverse and enriching activities, including an investment forum, youth empowerment sessions, drum-beating competitions, insightful lectures, art exhibitions, fashion shows, beauty pageants, dance competitions, and the prestigious Award of Excellence presentation.

The Grand Finale will take place on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Emerald Banquet Hall, 55 Guided Court, Etobicoke, Ontario, M9V 5G2, Canada. The Investment Forum and Youth Empowerment sessions will be held a day earlier, on Friday, July 25, in the City of Brampton.
