Tayo Oyeladun, a broadcaster with Lagelu FM in Ibadan, has claimed that his life is in danger following a recent radio program he hosted.
Oyeladun raised the alarm in a Facebook post on Thursday, stating that he began receiving threats after a broadcast on Saturday. According to him, the Chief Press Secretary to the Soun of Ogbomoso, Reverend Peter Olaleye, had contacted one of his senior colleagues to express displeasure over remarks made by a guest on the show.
Since then, Oyeladun alleges, he has received multiple threatening messages from individuals in Ogbomoso.
“The past few days have been hard for me and my family! I am facing death threats for doing my job as a journalist,” he wrote. “There is pressure from high places to get me sacked. If I lose my job or life, will they take care of my family?”
Speaking to DAILY POST on Thursday, Oyeladun revealed that the palace of the Soun of Ogbomoso has officially petitioned the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) over the matter.
“Since my last Saturday program, I have been receiving strange, threatening calls. The palace has also petitioned the NBC. Yet, I am the one being targeted, not the guest who made the comments,” he said.
In response, Reverend Olaleye denied issuing any threats against Oyeladun. Speaking to DAILY POST, he clarified that while the people of Ogbomosoland were upset about the remarks made during the program, he himself had not made any threats.
“I did not threaten him. I only pointed out that what they did was wrong. The people are angry because the comments were derogatory. If he claims he was threatened, let him provide evidence,” Olaleye stated.
The situation continues to unfold as Oyeladun stands by his claims, urging the public to pray for his safety.
