Ibadan's social landscape has been rocked by the untimely death of Princess Adeola Adedoyin Adeyemi, a vibrant businesswoman and socialite, who passed away at the age of 56. Adeola, who frequently divided her time between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, died in Belfast, Northern Ireland, on September 16, 2024, after a brief illness. The shocking news of her passing reverberated through the community, leaving friends and family in disbelief.

Those who spoke with Adeola just hours before her death are grappling with the suddenness of the loss. Many had attended recent gatherings celebrating her mother's grand funeral just weeks prior, which drew friends from around the globe and showcased her social connections. Adeola's mother, Mrs. Henrietta Davies, was buried on August 30, 2024, with a reception that highlighted the warmth and respect she garnered as a beloved figure in Ibadan's social circles.

Adeola was remembered fondly by her friends and mentees as a warm and effervescent personality who touched many lives. Her diverse network spanned various age groups and sectors, reflecting her influential role in the community. Close friend and mentee, Laide Lanre Badmus, expressed her grief online, describing Adeola's passing as "rude and shocking." She praised Adeola's enduring love and impact, which she promised to carry forward.

Born on July 14, 1968, in Ibadan, Adeola was a graduate of St. Teresa’s College, Oke-Ado, and was a prominent member of the Oyo State chapter of the St. Teresa’s College Old Girls’ Association (STCOGA). At the time of her death, she served as the National Social Secretary and had previously held the role of Vice President and Coordinator of the Oyo State chapter. In honor of her legacy, STCOGA has established a tribute page to commemorate Adeola, where tributes have poured in from those whose lives she touched.

Friends and former colleagues have taken to social media to share their memories of Adeola, highlighting her contagious smile, kindness, and resilience. Linda Macartney, a colleague from Muckamore Abbey Hospital, described her as a "stunning girl and a real lady" whose compassion left a lasting impression on both staff and patients.

As tributes continue to flood in, many are struggling to comprehend the loss. Graciana Mpotle, another close friend, reminisced about the colorful and joyous spirit Adeola brought to her last days. Grace Carey noted that even in the face of challenges, Adeola’s happiness and kindness were remarkable.

The shock of her departure is palpable, as friends reflect on how someone as vibrant and full of life as Adeola could be taken so suddenly. Many had hoped to celebrate future milestones with her, including the anticipated joy of her 60th birthday, which now won't come to be.
