The traditional leadership crisis in Kano State has taken an unexpected twist. According to Kano State Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam, the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has reportedly ordered the reinstatement of HRH Aminu Ado Bayero as the Emir of Kano.
This directive from the National Security Adviser directly contradicts the recent actions taken by Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. Just recently, Governor Yusuf signed a law reinstating Muhammadu Sanusi II and abolishing the five additional emirate councils established by the previous administration.
Deputy Governor Abdussalam expressed the state government's confusion and concern over the federal directive, stating, "National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu ordered the return of HRH Aminu Ado Bayero as Emir of Kano, we're confused."
The development has created a tense situation, with a heavy security presence reported at the Kano Emir's Palace as the state government prepares to support Sanusi II's return to the throne.
