A 30-year-old woman, Adenuga Damilola Deborah, who was abducted by unknown gunmen in Ibadan, Oyo State, has been rescued by a local vigilante group.

According to information gathered by our reporter, Damilola, a native of Ede in Osun State, was kidnapped on April 3 while on her way to church around 4 p.m. along the Alomaja-Idi Ayunre axis of Ibadan. The incident was promptly reported to the Oluyole Local Government Police Division.

A local hunter who witnessed the incident reportedly alerted the vigilante group about the situation. The head of the vigilante team, Mr. Kasali Jimoh, confirmed that his men were notified and immediately launched a search operation.

“Our men, who were on patrol, were informed by a local hunter. I instructed them to comb the area, and by the grace of God, we were able to rescue Damilola before the kidnappers reached their destination,” Mr. Jimoh said. “Unfortunately, the gunmen escaped before we could apprehend them.”

Eyewitnesses familiar with Damilola mentioned that she has faced attacks in the past, allegedly linked to her bisexual status.

Following her rescue, Damilola was handed over to the police for further investigation.
