As Enugu gov commissions, lauds him on 12.5km road

Oyo State Governor, 'Seyi Makinde, has announced a six-month extension of the payment of a wage award to civil servants and pensioners in the state.

The extension is aimed at allowing the Federal Government to conclude negotiations with labour unions on a minimum wage. The wage award was initially introduced in October 2023 to help ease the economic hardship caused by the removal of fuel subsidies.

Governor Makinde also highlighted the government's efforts in supporting residents of the state through various initiatives such as SAfER (Sustainable Actions for Economic Recovery). He emphasized that his administration prioritizes the welfare of workers and pensioners and will continue to meet their expectations.

Governor Makinde also spoke about the economic situation in the country, urging Nigerians to remain resilient and work together to make the country great again. He mentioned that the PDP Governors' Forum, including himself, will soon propose an action plan to address the economic challenges being faced by the country. The governor emphasized the need to focus on "baking a bigger cake" rather than solely relying on FAAC (Federal Account Allocation Committee) allocations.

In addition, the governor commissioned the 12.5-kilometre Challenge-Odo Ona Elewe-Apata Road, which has been named Theophilus Akinyele Way. He highlighted the road project as an example of infrastructure development aimed at improving the lives of residents and attracting prosperity to the state. The completion of this road has reduced travel time for thousands of people accessing their homes, businesses, and workplaces. Governor Makinde assured the people that his government will continue to deliver more dividends of democracy and work towards the overall development of the state.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by dignitaries including the Governor of Enugu State, the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, and other political leaders. The Enugu State Governor commended Governor Makinde for his transformative projects in the state and emphasized the importance of governance focused on the collective interest of the people.
