A Nigerian man, Chika Wonder, has confessed to having unprotected sex with over 400 women after being diagnosed with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). He made this revelation on Doyin’s Corner, a TV show, on Saturday, February 1.
Chika disclosed that he was diagnosed with HIV seven years ago while working at a photography studio in Kano. Despite knowing his status, he continued engaging in unprotected sex, citing a lack of pleasure with protection. He admitted to being highly promiscuous from an early age, claiming to have had intercourse with over 1,000 women in total.
According to Chika, he often paid women extra to engage in unprotected sex, sometimes offering an additional ₦200 or consuming alcohol to convince them. He said his reckless lifestyle eventually led to persistent illnesses, including fever and diarrhea, which prompted him to undergo testing.
Beyond his sexual escapades, Chika also confessed to deceiving churchgoers at House on the Rock and other churches. He would pretend to suffer from various ailments, including asthma and arthritis, to gain sympathy and financial support from members. He even went as far as avoiding bathing for two months to appear sickly and desperate.
Following his diagnosis, Chika struggled with depression and attempted suicide. He acknowledged that his mental state drove him to continue his risky behavior, leading to the infection of multiple partners.
“I had sex for seven years unprotected,” he admitted. “The total number of women I’ve been with could be over 1,000, but after my diagnosis, at least 400.”
However, on November 25, he claimed to have found a renewed sense of purpose and began taking his HIV medication. He now seeks to raise awareness about the consequences of unprotected sex and the importance of mental health.
