Brigadier General M.A. Sadiq of the 3 Brigade in Kano State has been detained in a military police guardroom in Abuja following serious allegations involving the misappropriation of resources intended for soldiers. General Sadiq is accused of diverting rice palliatives meant for military personnel and selling military equipment, including generator sets and operational vehicles, to scrap dealers.
Reports indicate that the Nigerian Defence Headquarters supplied rice to various military brigades nationwide to support troops. However, it is alleged that General Sadiq withheld these palliatives from his unit in Kano State.
Additionally, the general faces accusations of stealing a MIKANO heavy-duty generator from the Military Training Camp in Falgore, Kano, and selling other military assets for personal gain.
In light of these allegations, General Sadiq has been relieved of his duties, with Brigadier General A.M. Tukur, the former registrar of the Nigerian Defence Academy, appointed as his replacement. The military continues to investigate the matter.
