The Oyo State Government has announced plans to hold its first international tourism summit in 2024. The summit, titled #ITSOyoState2024, aims to showcase the tourism potential of the state and attract both local and foreign investors. The government only highlight the state's tourism resources but also create investment opportunities.

During a press conference held at the Governor's Office in Ibadan, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism and chairperson of the International Tourism Summit Planning Committee, emphasized that the summit aligns with Governor Seyi Makinde's vision to boost the state's economy through the promotion of tourism. Olatubosun revealed that the two-day event is scheduled to take place on April 17-18, 2024, at the International Conference Center, University of Ibadan.

The summit, which is the first of its kind, will feature talks, symposiums, panel discussions, and presentations aimed at attracting potential investors. It will also recognize individuals and organizations that have contributed to the development of tourism in Oyo State. In addition to showcasing investment opportunities, the event aims to promote sustainable development and prosperity for the state.

To participate in the summit, interested members of the public are encouraged to register on the official website: https://tourism.oyostate.gov.ng/itsoyostate2024/. The summit is expected to include exhibitions for micro, small, and large investors, as well as local artisans, beauticians, architects, and technicians. The government hopes that the event will attract investors who can help develop the state's tourist sites to international standards.

Mr. Tilewa Folami, the Director General of the Oyo State Investment and Public Private Partnership Agency, and Dr. Morohunkola Thomas, the Special Adviser on Socio-Economic Matters, believe that the tourism summit will provide employment opportunities for young people and the general public, while also boosting the state's economy. Other members of the committee include the Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Akinola Ojo, the Executive Adviser on Agribusiness, International Cooperation and Development, Dr. Debo Akande, and the Special Adviser on Media/Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju.
