The Lagos Police Command has arrested Pastor Anthony Kwamboli, a 30-year-old, in connection with the alleged murder of 17-year-old Adeolu Olubade. The gruesome incident took place in the Ejigbo area, where the victim was found buried in a shallow grave inside a room at the Jesus Assembly Church compound on Omoguwa Street.
Authorities report that Kwamboli is accused of slitting the boy's throat while he was asleep, before digging a grave and concealing the body within the apartment. The heinous act is believed to have occurred between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM on September 2, 2024.
According to the police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the tragedy came to light when a family member of the deceased reported the matter to the police on September 3, 2024, at approximately 8:00 AM. The report indicated that the body was discovered buried in one of the rooms of the church premises and raised suspicions regarding the suspect.
In a statement to the media, Hundeyin explained, “Based on the family's report, a team of detectives was dispatched to the scene. They took photographs of the shallow grave and exhumed the corpse for further examination.” The body has since been sent to Isolo General Hospital for a postmortem investigation.
Additionally, the police recovered a shovel believed to have been used in the burial, which is now registered as an exhibit. The suspect has been taken into custody and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Unit at Alagbon for further investigation as the case unfolds.
