Authorities in Anambra State have launched a full investigation following the shocking murder of three young siblings, whose bodies were discovered in a deep freezer at their home in Nnewichi, Nnewi.

The victims, identified as Ejezie Chikaima Daviana (9), Ejezie Chimziterem Dominica (7), and Ejezie Chimdilim David (5), were found dead on Saturday, February 1, after their mother, Mrs. Chikazor Ejezie, returned home from an examination. Mrs. Ejezie, a lecturer and nurse, became alarmed when she found the door to the house wide open—an unusual occurrence as the children typically locked up before going out to play.

After an initial search of the neighborhood, including their local church, yielded no results, a deeper search of the home led to the grim discovery—their bodies inside the family’s deep freezer. The father, Mr. Ejezie Udochukwu, who resides in Irrua, Edo State, was notified and rushed home upon receiving the tragic news.

Recounting the events, Mr. Ejezie said, "When my wife got home and didn’t find the children, she searched everywhere, including the church where they served as altar servers. Eventually, in despair, the deep freezer was opened, and that’s when their lifeless bodies were found."

According to him, evidence suggested that the children had been eating when the assailants struck, as plates of unfinished food were left behind in disarray. The family lives in a bungalow shared with two tenants and a landlord.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Itam, has ordered a comprehensive investigation. “The bodies have been recovered, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for a thorough inquiry. More details will be provided as the investigation progresses,” he said.

The tragic incident has left the Nnewichi community in shock, with residents demanding a full investigation and justice for the slain children.

This disturbing case comes just a month after another horrific event in Anambra State, where three young siblings were found dead inside a parked vehicle in their family’s compound in Nise, Awka South Local Government Area. In that incident, the boys, aged between two and six, were discovered bound and lifeless in their father’s car, which was smeared with blood—raising suspicions of a premeditated attack.
