A political analyst, Mr Ranti Ajeleti, has advised Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State on who to choose as his Deputy in order to unite the All Progressives Congress (APC) party in the state.

Ajeleti, an Ibadan-based legal practitioner, gave the advice in a statement issued and made available to newsmen on Saturday in Ibadan.

He said that the circumstances of the death of former Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, who had contributed positively to the party and humanity, has divided the politics of the state into near enmity.

According to the political analyst, there is now fray nerves with high tension and pressures mounting; acrimony at its peak and if the division is not check it could snowball into irreparable damage to the state.

“The Ruling party APC has a self-inflicted injury which by just a small political gerrymandering or political-sagacity would overcome the in-house bottleneck with ease,” he said.

Ajeleti said that it would be in the interest and glory of the party to be united now that the goal getter Akeredolu has died.

The legal practitioner said that It would be a disservice to Akeredolu’memory if the APC fails to retain the governorship at the next election.

“With all sense of responsibility, I call on the APC National Chairman,Sen. Abdullahi Ganduje and the APC National Leader, President Bola Tinubu to act swiftly by taking the following actions:

“That Babajide Akeredolu, son of late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu should be made the Deputy to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

“That neither Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa nor Babajide Akeredolu should contest the governorship in 2025 rather Aiyedatiwa should be contented with Senate Seat while Babajide Akeredolu should build on his professional career outside politics.

Ajeleti said that with the choice of Babajide Akeredolu as the Deputy Governor, the pro Aketi group would have a friendly voice in government.

He further said that governor Aiyedatiwa himself would become a rallying point for all shades of opinion including former sworn enemies if Babajide Akeredolu should be made the deputy governor.

“I therefore call on President Bola Tinubu and the Chairman of APC Senator Abdullahi Ganduje to consider this suggestion with seriousness it deserves,” Ajeleti said.
