Nigerian singer Abeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has publicly appealed to residents of Ibadan, Oyo State, for forgiveness after a controversial remark about the city.
The singer recently caused outrage when he claimed in a viral video that no house in Ibadan has a POP (Plaster of Paris) ceiling like the one he rented for his estranged lover, Queen Dami, the widow of the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi. Portable made the statement while addressing Queen Dami’s departure from the house he had rented for her, following a disagreement.

His remarks sparked backlash among Ibadan residents, with many expressing their anger online. Some users warned Portable to avoid coming to the city, threatening to confront him if he did.
In response to the backlash, Portable released a new video pleading for leniency. He explained that he has an upcoming concert in Ibadan alongside popular Fuji artist Taiye Currency, for which he has already been paid. Portable urged the people of Ibadan to forgive him, stressing that he could not cancel the event or return the payment.
