Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central has categorically denied explosive allegations made against her in a livestream broadcast by Dr. Sandra C. Duru—also known online as “Prof. Mgbeke”—on May 1, 2025. The senator described the claims, including a manipulated voice clip allegedly attributed to her, as “entirely untrue” and accused Duru of executing a smear campaign on behalf of Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

In a statement released shortly after the livestream, Senator Akpoti asserted that the voice effects and narratives presented were distorted and fabricated, with no basis in any genuine interaction involving her. “To the best of my knowledge, those words used against Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, Dr. Abiola, FIDA, and good Nigerians as ‘gullible and hungry’, ‘Yoruba government’ etc., are complete falsehoods,” she stated.

Akpoti also claimed that the woman currently representing herself as Sandra Duru had previously operated under the alias “Prof. Mgbeke” on Facebook, a persona known for controversial commentary. She promised a more detailed response to the “unfounded allegations” in due course.

Meanwhile, Dr. Duru’s livestream has ignited significant public debate. She alleged that Akpoti had not only confessed that a sexual harassment claim was fabricated but also offered bribes and tried to recruit her into a politically motivated campaign against Senate President Akpabio. Duru claimed to have received N200 million offers, compromising details about a supposed anti-Tinubu plot, and flirtatious advances from the senator.

Supporting her claims, Duru presented audio clips, chat screenshots, and a phone number allegedly tied to Senator Akpoti—identified via Truecaller. “You can’t fake all this,” Duru said. “She called me, begged, bribed, confessed, and when I refused, she turned around and denied ever knowing me? That’s cowardice and treachery.”

Comedian MC Jollof, known for his outspoken social media presence, joined the fray by publicly denouncing Duru and calling for U.S. authorities to review her citizenship status, accusing her of blackmail and misinformation.

As evidence circulates online and both parties dig in, the controversy continues to raise serious questions about political maneuvering, credibility, and the use of social media in Nigerian politics. With investigations reportedly underway, the public awaits more definitive answers in what is shaping up to be a major political scandal.
