Popular Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, has addressed rumors surrounding his absence at Taye Currency's recent concert in Ibadan. The outspoken artist took to social media to clarify the situation and refute claims that he was barred from performing.
Portable's absence sparked speculation online, with many attributing it to his past controversial remarks about Ibadan. Last year, the "Zazuu Zeh" hitmaker stirred backlash when he criticized residents of the city while recounting a failed relationship with his ex-girlfriend, Queen Dami. He mocked the state’s residents for allegedly lacking modern housing features like Plaster-of-Paris (POP) ceilings, which he claimed were more common in Lagos and other regions.
In a video shared online, Portable denied the allegations, stating that he missed the event due to ill health, not because he was unwelcome. He also revealed that financial disagreements played a role in his decision.
“They lied,” he said. “I was in my house because I was sick. Besides, they paid N1 million instead of N5 million. I won’t go where I’m not appreciated.”
