The student being tapped by her lecturer

A female student at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Anambra State, reportedly assaulted a lecturer after he interrupted her video recording on campus.

In a viral clip, the student is seen dancing in front of her phone when the lecturer lightly taps her while walking past, saying, "Excuse me." The student reacts with annoyance, turning to her friend and saying, "Can you imagine!"

A second clip shows the situation escalating, with the student forcefully grabbing the lecturer’s clothes as bystanders attempt to intervene. At one point, she slaps him while he raises his hands in a defensive posture.

The lecturer later recounted the incident via a text message, explaining that he had gently asked the student to move as he passed. However, after overhearing her disrespectful remark, he returned to confirm if she was his student and to ensure she deleted any footage of him.

According to his account, when he reached for her phone, she reacted aggressively, biting him on both arms. In response, he held her hand to prevent her from escaping, which further enraged her. She then tore his clothes, slapped and scratched him, while he remained calm.

The situation was later taken to the university’s security office, where the student alleged that the lecturer had attempted to strip her. The lecturer also mentioned that the student’s mother is a lecturer in the Engineering faculty, implying that this might have influenced her behavior.

The incident is now under review by the university authorities.
