A driver experienced a miraculous escape on November 25, 2024, when a 40-foot shipping container fell onto his Toyota Camry at Mile 2, Lagos, while he was en route to Apapa. Footage from the incident captures the dramatic moments as a group of good Samaritans, along with emergency responders, rushed to the scene to assist.
First on the scene were teams from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), who worked in unison to extricate the driver from his vehicle. The prompt actions of these teams were crucial in ensuring the man's safe removal, after which he was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
In addition, officers from the Kirikiri Police Division were deployed to maintain security at the site. Following the successful rescue, efforts continued to clear the damaged vehicle and the fallen container from the road to restore normal traffic flow. A subsequent video showed the driver receiving medical care in the hospital, underscoring the urgency and seriousness of the incident.
