A fast-rising Lagos singer, OG1 Savage, has been detained by the police following the mysterious death of a young woman, Racheal, who visited his apartment on Lagos Island.
Racheal, who was reportedly pregnant, had been in contact with OG1 Savage via Instagram for over a month. During their conversations, she mentioned needing a new phone, and the singer allegedly promised to provide one. On Sunday, January 26, 2025, as she was preparing for church, he invited her over to collect the phone.
Before leaving, Racheal left her tithe and prayer points with her mother and then headed to OG1 Savage’s apartment. Upon arrival, she met the singer and some of his friends. Reports indicate that OG1 Savage later made advances toward her, which she rejected, stating that she was in a committed relationship and would return another time.
Shortly after, Racheal requested water, which OG1 Savage provided. However, after drinking it, she began feeling unwell and sent a distressing message to her sister. In the text, she expressed fear that the water had been spiked, as it tasted strange, and she shared the apartment's address.
By the time her sister arrived, Racheal was reportedly unconscious, naked, and wet. The men in the apartment claimed they poured water on her to help when she started feeling sick. Despite their denials of any wrongdoing, Racheal was rushed to a hospital, which allegedly refused to admit her. She was then taken to a second hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The police have since arrested OG1 Savage as investigations into the circumstances surrounding Racheal’s death continue.
