Auwalu Ahmed Dankade, an employee at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, made headlines this week after returning $10,000 he discovered while cleaning an aircraft. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon aboard an Egyptian airline, and Dankade promptly reported the find to his manager, ensuring the cash was returned to its rightful owner.
In a phone interview with Daily Trust, Dankade expressed that his actions were guided by a desire to please Allah. “I have been trained not to take what does not belong to me,” he stated. “Anything you take unlawfully, you will be held accountable for in the hereafter."
Dankade credits his upbringing for his integrity, saying, “My parents taught us to be content with whatever we have, and this upbringing made it easy for me to return the money.”
Airport sources indicated that Dankade is likely to be invited by his employers to Lagos on Friday, where he may receive a reward for his honesty and commendable conduct.
