Joyce Ifunanyachukwu, a young mother whose health struggles were publicly shared just months ago, has passed away at the age of 27. Her case garnered significant attention as the public rallied to raise 36 million Naira for her medical treatment following complications during her pregnancy that resulted in kidney issues.
In September, a social media user, Sarah Ibrahim, took to X (formerly Twitter) to appeal for donations to cover Joyce's medical expenses. The generous contributions from kind-hearted Nigerians helped raise the necessary funds for her treatment. However, two months later, the announcement of Joyce's death came as a shock when Ibrahim shared the news on November 21.
Ibrahim alleged that Joyce's husband withdrew her from the hospital after receiving the donations, reportedly transferring the funds to his personal account. Moreover, it is claimed that instead of continuing appropriate medical care, he took Joyce to a church seeking treatment from a pastor.
The circumstances surrounding Joyce's death have raised serious concerns and sparked outrage among those who contributed to her treatment fund. Many are now calling for an investigation into the alleged misuse of the donations and the overall handling of her medical care.
