Phindiswa Toshi Mpomposhe, a young woman from Khayelitsha, Cape Town, was tragically stabbed to death by her boyfriend, Mkhuseli Ludidi, on New Year’s Day. The fatal incident reportedly stemmed from an argument over her choice of clothing.
Phindiswa had been celebrating the New Year with her sister, friends, and boyfriend at the beach. She borrowed bum shorts from her sister, which led to a heated argument with Mkhuseli, who considered the outfit too revealing. Though the dispute seemed to have been resolved, the situation took a deadly turn later that day.
According to witnesses, the group resumed their celebrations after the initial argument and eventually returned home. However, the confrontation escalated again, culminating in Mkhuseli fatally stabbing Phindiswa.
Police reports indicate that Mkhuseli arrived at the Harare police station in Khayelitsha covered in blood, claiming someone had been injured. Before officers could gather further information, he fled, leading to a police chase. He was later apprehended with two kitchen knives in his possession.
Phindiswa’s lifeless body was discovered in Kuyasa. Investigations revealed that the couple, who had been dating for eight months, had a history of domestic abuse. Witnesses reported that Phindiswa had endured prolonged mistreatment, which had recently turned physical.
