World Teachers' Day: Senator Alli hails teachers' role in nation building

As the world marks World Teachers' Day, Senator Sharafadeen Alli(APC-Oyo South) has reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that uplift the teaching profession in Oyo State and Nigeria at large.

The lawmaker, in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Akeem Abas, described teachers as invaluable assets to the nation, lauding their dedication to shaping the future of the country through education.

Senator Alli emphasised the critical role teachers play in the moulding of young minds and the overall advancement of society.

He pointed out that educators are not just transmitters of knowledge but also mentors and role models, whose impact often transcended the classroom.

According to him, teachers’ commitment to nurturing future leaders is the foundation of national development and growth."

Senator Alli stressed the need for increased support for teachers, calling on governments at all levels to prioritise policies that improve their welfare, training and working conditions.

"Our teachers deserve nothing less than the best, as they continue to equip our youths with the skills, values and knowledge necessary to thrive in an ever-changing world," he noted.

He acknowledged the challenges teachers face, particularly in developing countries and urged that more resources be dedicated to the education sector.

The lawmaker called on stakeholders to work collaboratively towards ensuring that teachers receive the recognition, respect and compensation they rightly deserved.

He commended all teachers across the globe, encouraging them to continue in their pursuit of excellence in education.
