Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem, widely known as AKK, has emerged as a prominent figure in the educational and philanthropic landscape of Nigeria, and is now setting his sights on becoming the governor of Oyo State come 2027.
With over 25 years of teaching experience in Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and Australia, Dr. Kareem is celebrated for his dedication to education and community development. As an accredited secondary mathematics teacher and school leader, he has earned a PhD in Mathematics Education, a Master’s in Leadership and Management in Education from The University of Newcastle, and a Professional Graduate Diploma in Secondary Teaching Mathematics from the University of Strathclyde. Currently, he continues to impact students' lives through the Department of Education in New South Wales, Australia.
In addition to his academic accolades, Dr. Kareem serves as the First Fakhar Soliheen of Oyo State and Chief Imam of the Wabillahi Taofeeq Islamic Mission Worldwide. His contributions to Islamic scholarship include numerous publications focused on community development and religious education.
Dr. Kareem is also deeply committed to philanthropic efforts. His focus on empowering underprivileged children is evident through various education and empowerment initiatives. His advocacy work highlights the importance of supporting out-of-school children and fostering community development.
A recent milestone in his philanthropic journey is the unveiling of the Adewale Kolapo Kareem (AKK) House—a multi-million-naira complex designed to alleviate poverty and empower local communities. Once completed, the complex will house several vital facilities, including:
1. Youth Empowerment Office: Aims to provide skills training and alleviate poverty.
2. SuccessLink Office: Offers support for business and job-seeking, including interest-free loans.
3. Library and ICT Centre: Bridges the knowledge gap with resources and digital skills training.
4. Old People’s Club/Aged Support Centre: Creates a supportive community for senior citizens.
5. Disability Support Building: Provides essential assistance to the disabled and vulnerable populations.
6. Farmers' Palliative House: Supplies necessary resources and support to local farmers.
7. Women Affairs Club: Empowers women through various initiatives.
8. Clinical Centre: Ensures access to preventative healthcare.
Dr. Kareem has also founded several educational institutions, including Attaofeequ Billahi (AB) Farm Limited, Attaofeequ Billahi International School (ABIS), and Australian Boiling Point International School, all aimed at promoting quality education intertwined with Islamic values.
Born in Foko, Ibadan, to the Onibudo family, Dr. Kareem is a family man, married with children, and mirrors his professional commitment in his personal life. His extensive achievements and awards reflect his dedication to global positive change.
