The Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) on Friday convened its Southwest Stakeholders Meeting in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, as part of efforts to strengthen the party’s structure and prepare for future electoral contests.
The meeting, presided over by the party’s National Vice Chairman (Southwest), Hon. Lanre Azzan, brought together key leaders and representatives from the six states in the region—Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Ekiti, Osun, and Ondo.
In his address, Hon. Azzan underscored the importance of unity and dedication among members, urging them to work collectively in spreading the party’s influence and solidifying its presence across the Southwest.
He noted that the recent inauguration of the party’s new leadership during its national convention in Abuja in February had positioned ZLP for greater electoral success in the 2027 general elections.
“The national leadership has high expectations from every member. It is our responsibility to ensure that the party is firmly rooted in all regions, particularly in the Southwest, where we must intensify efforts to expand our base and enhance our electoral chances,” Azzan said.
He reaffirmed his commitment to inclusivity and collaboration, pledging to work closely with state executives to advance the party’s agenda. He emphasized that his leadership would prioritize internal cohesion, strategic grassroots mobilization, and engagement with critical stakeholders to ensure ZLP’s relevance in the evolving political landscape.
The meeting provided an avenue for party leaders to deliberate on strategies for strengthening the party’s structures at the ward, local government, and state levels, with participants expressing optimism about ZLP’s prospects in the region.
