Pastor Adeboye Reveals Experience of Being Duped by False Military Recruiter
Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, shared a personal story of deception involving a fraudulent promise to appoint him as a “commandant” of a paramilitary organization. In a post on social media platform X, Adeboye recounted the incident that took place years ago.
According to Adeboye, the man presented himself as a recruiter for a newly established paramilitary agency and successfully persuaded him to invest money to help launch the initiative. The pastor explained that the individual had been sending messages through his secretary for some time before finally securing a meeting.
In his account, Adeboye described how the man claimed that a group similar to the Boy Scouts had transitioned into this new agency and was seeking spiritual leadership. “Normally, I consult God before engaging in any venture,” he noted, “but my youthful admiration for the military clouded my judgment, and I accepted the role of their head.”
The pastor revealed that he provided funding for the paramilitary organization, only to later discover that the entire operation was a scam. Reflecting on the experience, Adeboye stated, “My eagerness to join a paramilitary group led me to act impulsively, but God already had a plan for Redemption City, which included establishing its own corps of chaplains and a local police post.”
He emphasized that while he only lost money in the ordeal, others could face far worse consequences. “What I lost was financial, but for someone else, it might have been their life or the life of a loved one,” he concluded, using the story as a cautionary tale about the importance of patience and divine timing.
