The Oyo State High Court in Ibadan has declared the selection and appointment of Oba Oyeleye Sakirudeen as the Onifiditi of Fiditi null and void.

The judgment, handed down by Justice K.B. Olawoyin, has resulted in the invalidation of the presentation of the Staff of Office to Oba Sakirudeen on October 18, 2021, by Governor Seyi Makinde and other officials of the Oyo State Government.

The court has also issued a mandatory injunction, preventing the defendants from carrying out any further actions with regards to filling the vacant stool of the Onifiditi of Fiditi until the lawsuit is resolved.

The plaintiffs, Samuel Ogunkunle and Bayo Oyewale, were represented by R. A. Olawuwo and B.M. Olimene, while various counsel represented the defendants.

Furthermore, in favor of the plaintiffs, the court has awarded a cost of N200,000. The lawsuit has been adjourned until May 22. This ruling marks a significant setback for the selection of Oba Oyeleye Sakirudeen as the Onifiditi of Fiditi, and the outcome of the case holds implications for the future leadership of the community.
